Summer Wrap up here at the Library

Funny, friends and neighbors, about the weather. Here it is the end of summer and we had a spurt of hot weather. Before now it was pleasantly cool. Not summer like at all.

As summer comes to a close, so does our summer reading program. I will miss it. It is a time when children come to the library frequently. However, we have the beginning of the school year, and with it book reports, research papers, and all the other reading programs that children have. This is another example of “build it and they will come…” Our library, Pine River Public Library, welcomes hundreds of people every year. (Or is it thousands? Muriel would know.)

With the end of summer, we look back on a couple of really special events.

1.    Our Cupcake Wars! First annual. This year it was won by Stone Woman Herbals. We look forward to many years to come and more participants each year.

2.    The August viewing of my movie, “If Only Cats Could Talk”. Thank you, Signe Veje, director of the film, for the fine gift of my new cat tree. It’s great to be a star!

3.    Oops. A couple means two, doesn’t it? Well, I have been having drawings on my Facebook page once a month. Thought you should know.

I remain,

Browser, the library cat
