Animal friendly spring tips, free musical concert April 18

Happy spring, friends and neighbors and fellow library patrons. In spring a young man's fancy may turn to thoughts of love, but a bear's fancy turns to thoughts of lunch. For this reason, if you live in a wooded area, it is best to take down your bird feeders at night and make sure your trash can is tightly closed and strapped shut Another spring tip: Skunks are out in the fresh air after a long winter. they are sharing their perfume with ignorant doggies. These Doggies (and sometimes kitties, but not me!) come home and share this perfume with their families. Though there is a myth that tomato juice poured all over your pet will stifle the smell, it doesn't work all that well and is expensive and messy. Try this because it works: Mix a large bottle of peroxide with 1/4 cup of baking soda and a teaspoon of Dawn Liquid. (you might want to double this recipe if you have a large doggie.) Suds your pet. You'll notice right away that it is working. Leave this stuff on your pet for ten minutes and rinse. To make sure you get your pet's head, put a couple of drops of olive oil or corn oil in their eyes before applying to their head. This will protect their eyes.

In keeping with spring, Pine River Library is presenting a wonderful music concert. I know it is wonderful because I have heard form the children in the Pequot Lakes School when this man performed there that he was "awesome". His name is Todd Green. He is presenting a FREE Community Concert at The Warehouse in Pine River on Monday, April 18 At 7:00 pm. These FREE tickets are available at the library. We encourage you to pick up your tickets before the concert so that there is some sort of guess about how many of you will attend. Mr. Green brings with him over 30 musical instruments and 4 digital samplers. It takes him six hours to set up for this concert. You won't be disappointed.

Go outside and grow something!
